MEET DONALD SCOTT
Donald Scott, the hair artist’s hair artist, is a world renowned stylist, educator, platform artist and inventor. Born into a family of hairdressers, Donald began cutting hair at the age of 20 and received formal training from Paul Mitchell prior to opening his own salon in NYC catering to A list celebrities, top models and global trend setters.
Realizing that there was a void in the industry, Donald created a collection of patented, razor tools to provide the hair artist with creative freedom, spontaneity and precision. Three qualities that traditional tools did not offer. With these new revolutionary tools, he coined the term “free form precision” and went on to establish signature techniques that excited hair artists by providing them with a whole new way to create an endless array of shapes and looks on all hair textures – for both women and men alike.

“When I trained as a professional cosmetologist more than 37 years ago, we were told that the comb, scissors, thinning shears and razor are the only implements required for styling hair. For years I worked with these common tools, finding that the limitations of such prevalent devices dictated the visual language of my artistic creations. After Donald Scott introduced his carving comb, I purchased three of these implements. The carving comb immediately became an essential component of my daily work; it was not a luxury, but a necessity.
